We can help you out!
Lindsey Hollin
16:14
what's the difference between survey and quiz?
Eryn Berger
18:33
A survey does not have “correct” answers that are graded. A quiz does.
Eryn Berger
19:12
I believe Whitney will talk a bit more about this.
Lindsey Hollin
21:03
so a survey really can't take the place of a homework assignment?
Raleigh Way
21:31
Surveys are for collecting data.
Raleigh Way
22:02
A survey can’t be graded. That is the main difference.
Lindsey Hollin
22:28
ok thanks - then probably not useful for my course
Eryn Berger
22:45
Exactly, I have had students complete a “graded” survey after a group project that explained what role they had in the group project and any input they want to provide about their group assignment
Eryn Berger
23:09
So just an information collection tool.
Lindsey Hollin
23:28
I had wanted to do that for their homework but I couldn't figure out how to grade a "graded survey"
Eryn Berger
24:55
The “graded quiz” may be more useful for homework. You can just label it Homework. You can use the “quiz” tool to make homework, worksheet, exams, etc.

25:24
Can we upload a link for a quiz? I teach court reporting and it will be audio files. I will be grading them not canvas
Lisa Ward
25:49
sorry I should have waited
Amirra Dittfurth
28:39
I’ve had trouble with multiple blanks. It wouldn’t let the students answer.
Lisa George
28:54
If I give 2 attempt, first attempt grade is not posting in canvas for a few students, why is it?
Lisa George
30:01
Scientific notation I have problem to enter in answers
Lindsey Hollin
30:53
yes by default I used a graded quiz
Amy Gates
31:46
Hello Amirra, here's a good job aid for questions with multiple blanks: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-26332-how-do-i-create-a-fill-in-multiple-blanks-quiz-question
Raleigh Way
32:59
Lisa, we would need to have a deeper conversation about attempts not posting. If it’s doing it for some students and not others, we would need to explore why. What campus are you on?
Lisa Ward
33:03
file upload question will probably work for court reporting.
Raleigh Way
36:28
Lisa, whatever campus you are on, there is an Instructional Innovation Center (IIC) or something similar, e.g., Teaching and Learning Center, Distance Learning. There are people there who can help you with your question. Some of us in this session work in those Centers.
Lisa George
36:56
thanks.
Lisa Ward

For a long exam, would the “shuffle” feature shuffle within section? Or would all questions throughout the exam be shuffled?
Amy Gates
38:53
You're welcome!
Raleigh Way
39:19
Nadia Shelby: nshelby2@alamo.edu
Eryn Berger
41:43
The shuffle feature shuffles the answers and not the questions.

Hello Lisa, here's a canvas job aid for math equations: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-26460-how-do-i-use-the-math-editor-in-the-rich-content-editor-as-an-instructor
Eryn Berger

Hey everyone, it may be a good idea to mute yourself if you are not talking so background sound doesn’t get picked up.
Kathryn Miller

Thanks!
Lisa Ward
